Apps of Crisis
BA Students
Interactive Media
Course project
As the corona crisis was taking hold of every part of the daily life in every last corner of the planet, we tried to use the uncertainty and lack of routine as an inspiration for new digital solutions aimed at societies in need. The students of the interactive media course developed concepts for the new voids in socials structures. How do we protest, how do we work, how do we help, how do we know, how do we learn.
The mobilization of a backup in a time when cracks show show in the foundation of the essential workforce was the basis of the concept of NewOrder. Instead of blandness the students chose to target their peers with a bold language and brand essence that went way beyond a job portal.
Is there a digital to uphold one of the fundamental rights in a democracy whilst staying save? Protesting. Student Robert Grünheit is envisioning a digital way to express opinion in a digital public.
The corona crisis had very different effects on different sections of society. While parents juggled combining home schooling with their dayjob, schools, universities and companies moving all their business online, elderly people where often sitting inside without the benefits of being able to engage with the online world as their digital literacy was more than basic. Verena Branding and Martha Harms took it on themselves to develop a training hub specifically for the digitally untrained.
Vanessa Bauer and Sini Lenger brought clarity to the confusion and ever-changing federal rules of Germany. So did Nadin Reichbodt with her app «Pandemic» (below).
Sabrina Apel, also dealing with a better understanding of current rules and regulations added the little helper as an element of comfort.
